Beatunes running as a background task appears to cause corruption of the database

Beatunes for Windows 5.2.32, running on Windows 10.

I have recently moved from using Beatunes on one PC to another.

I have a non-iTunes folder structure, accessed on a NAS, and until now, had very few issues.

On the fresh install, Beatunes is behaving differently. It, quite cleverly, is now detecting new files added to the folders while Beatunes is open and prompts me to analyse and inspect the new songs. However, I suspect this is where the issue lies.

Since installing, registering, and syncing, over the past few days, I have been prompted multiple times to rebuild the database when reopening the app. When I close Beatunes, more often than not, it asks if I want to close as it's busy syncing (I'm assuming silently, as there's nothing at the bottom of the window or elsewhere to indicate that it is syncing). I have tried both 'Yes' and 'No' on different occasions. Either way, Beatunes continues running as a background task, there's a few minutes of activity, after which, the CPU usage drops to 0%, but the background process remains, even if left for a few hours, and I get the prompt to rebuild the corrupted database when I try to reopen the app. I have also tried waiting until the CPU remains at 0% for a few minutes, then forcibly closing the background process before reopening Beatunes, (this always seemed to be the fix before), but it still prompts me to rebuild the database. I've also noticed that, unlike my previous install, the background process isn't represented by an icon in the taskbar, so I only see it in Task Manager.

Is there a setting that deactivates this background syncing, that I perhaps had turned on on my previous install? I just want Beatunes to close when I close it, as I guess this would eradicate these issues with the database?

    Hi,

Is there a setting that deactivates this background syncing

In the general preferences, please turn off "Automatic synchronization on windows activation".

To manually initiate synchronization, please use the menu item in the File menu.

    Hope this helps,
