Hello, I recently installed BeaTunes5 so these are certainly newbie questions :-)
I started out by creating a new library, the source folder sits on a NAS. BeaTunes took a couple of days to Analyse my library. I Inspected the results. I felt things were running a little slowly so I restarted the app and laptop. After the restart the library view is no longer populated with my tracks and the app is v slow/unresponsive. I notice the Inspection view still includes the initial results. Would welcome thoughts on this.
It would be great to also get feedback on a couple of other points:
1. Following analysis, should BeaTunes also be updating metadata on the source library files?
2. I noticed in the library view, many fields were not populated after analysis, esp Genre & Mood. Is this normal?
3. When things are running well, how should I resync BeaTunes to my source library folder - i.e. to analyse newly added files?
Many thanks. I've added a reasonably recent log. I wanted to add a more recent one but BeaTunes in now completely unresponsive :(
Many thanks
Mark

Update:
Restarted all again and made sure link was established with NAS source folder before opening BeaTunes. Happily, Library view is populated again :)
Now notice an ongoing "Synchonising with music library...." Can anyone tell me what this is doing and in any functionality unavailable during?
Thanks
Mark

Hey Mark,
Yes... the link has to be there. :-)
"Synchronizing" in beaTunes is the process where beaTunes goes through your files (in case of a folder-based library) and checks whether the tags are the same as in the internal library. If there are differences, the internal library is updated. Note that synchronizing in beaTunes never means the other direction, i.e. when data flows from beaTunes to your files, this always happens directly, not during synchronization.
Yes. It happens during analysis.
Whether the fields mood and genre are updated depends on your settings and the availability of data. Note that genre and mood are fetched from different databases.
During (above mentioned) synchronization, beaTunes automatically discovers newly added files. It will then offer to you via a popup to analyze these newly added files.
Hope this helps,
-hendrik
