great, I shut down and this morning the product started to run
really slow and eating huge amounts of virt. storage 1.17 after
just 30 minutes of letting run.</p>
<p>I have analysis about 1200 songs yesterday and unable to do
anything with it today, the product will finally crash. I do have a
LARGE itunes library.<br></p>
<p>OS Mac 10.6.2<br>
itunes 9.0.2<br>
Beatunes 2.1.2</p>
<p>What should I try to clear this up?</p>

<p>virtual memory consumption is in itself not a problem - but the
crash you mention certainly is.</p>
<p>Can you describe the crash? What happened?</p>
<p>How many songs are in your library, how much RAM and how many
processors/core does your system have?</p>
<p>Thanks,</p>

<p>beaTunes should easily be able to handle 13000 songs.</p>
<p>What probably happens is that beaTunes recognizes your 8 cores
and starts 7 analysis threads to analyze your library (I suppose
you still have songs in the analysis queue, right?). Each thread
consumes quite a bit of memory, which will lead to the memory
consumption issue you see.</p>
<p>You can reduce this, by opening the beaTunes preferences, goto
Analysis and change the number of parallel tasks to something
lower, like e.g. 4. You have to restart beaTunes for this setting
to take effect.</p>
<p>The "Hear" thing is definitely something that causes crashes. As
long as beaTunes tells you it is present, you will see crashes.</p>
<p>Slow responses may stem from the heavy analysis you probably
have been doing - you should see an improvement with fewer parallel
tasks.</p>
<p>"goes down hill from there" - unfortunately does not give me a
whole lot to work with... Does it crash (program gone,
CrashReporter), simply not respond anymore, or respond very
sluggishly?</p>
<p>Please let me know, if the suggested lower number of parallel
tasks makes a difference for you in responsiveness and virt memory
consumption.</p>
<p>Thanks,</p>
<p>-hendrik</p></div>hendriktag:help.beatunes.com,2009-07-24:Comment/8630212010-01-17T12:15:23Z2010-01-17T12:15:23ZBeatunes running very very slow and eating huge amount of virt. storage 1.17 GB<div><p>OK I changed the number of parallel tasks to 4, let see what
happen.</p>
<p>My concern is the reporting of Hear also, where should I look
for components<br>
of hear the program is seeing and possible causing problem?</p>
<p>As what is happening, is that as soon as the program comes up it
goes into a<br>
non-responsive mode. Now it response after you click something a
minute or<br>
two later. The crashing is after about two hours of being
non-responsivie.<br>
Also, there is nothing in the task queue at this time. I'm going to
let it<br>
run to see what happens letting it stand there, but it showing that
it<br>
working at 100%, spending a lot of enegy doing nothing.</p>

<p>there is an uninstall section in the hear manual (<a href=
"http://www.joesoft.com/docs/Hear-UsersManual.pdf">http://www.joesoft.com/docs/Hear-UsersManual.pdf</a>).<br>
If that does not work, check
<code>/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/HAL/</code> for the hear plugin and
remove it, if it is there.</p>
<p>You mention "crashing" - do you mean a real crash, where the
program disappears and the Crashreporter comes up?</p>
<p>If this does not do it, I would need to see your logs. They are
in <code>~/Library/Logs/beaTunes</code> - please just zip the whole
folder, before you send them.</p>
<p>Thanks,</p>
