can you please download and install the current dev snapshot from https://www.beatunes.com/download/beaTunes-5-2-1-SNAPSHOT.dmg

Snapshot versions aren't notarized by Apple, which is why macOS 10.15 will complain and not start beaTunes the ordinary way. Therefore, please right-click on the installed app and choose
Open
form the context menu. Then macOS will give you the option to actually launch the app.

With the snapshot, please sync and force sync. If the issue persists, please upload your logs using beaTunes'
Help
->
Upload Logs
menu.

You may also attempt to repair the internal database. You can do so with
Tools
->
Repair Database
(which will require an application restart). Repairing may also solve the sync issue.

Hope this helps,

the original issue—does it happen only with smart playlists and folders? Or also with regular playlists?

Thanks,

It was a Smart Playlist. I’m seeing this (different Smart Playlist) with Radiologik (my Playout Software) too. I also have noticed that CD Cover Images after the install of Catalina does not show up in Third Party Software too. I have not installed your Snapshot yet. I’ve been cleaning up my Metadata in my database.

sounds like it's a general macOS 10.15 problem. At this point all 3rd party applications access the playlists list via Apple's iTunesLibrary-API. Perhaps it is giving us the wrong data... Then there's little we can do, but file bug reports and hope for the best.

If you have an Apple ID, feel free to file one yourself at https://feedbackassistant.apple.com — the more bug reports Apple receives, the higher are the chances they actually do something about it.

-hendrik

PS: I'm in the process of pushing 5.2.1 out the door. So please don't bother with that snapshot anymore.

hendriktag:help.beatunes.com,2009-07-24:Comment/477996932019-11-10T16:45:45Z2019-11-10T16:45:46ZDuplicate Playlist

I don’t think that I’m allowed to submit bug to that address. It looks like it is for “Developers”. I’m an End-user? I would not want to get you in trouble if they ask how I got that address?

Do all 3rd party software use the same API?

At this point one can only access data inside of Music.app via the ITLibrary API or the AppleScript API. AppleScript tends to be quite slow, so most 3rd party apps will use the ITLibrary API.

If so, why would this issue not be present in other 3rd party software?

How do you know it's not?

hendriktag:help.beatunes.com,2009-07-24:Comment/477996932019-11-10T17:11:33Z2019-11-10T17:11:34ZDuplicate Playlist

BeaTunes shows, the Jingle Smart Playlist (and Themes Folder) 3 times, It only shows up once in Radiologik (no folders are shown, Just playlists). I just want to make sure I know what I’m talking about before I call Apple Tech support and give them hell. LOL

Again, I now think this “ALL ON APPLE” to fix. I just want to make sure I understand the issue and also alert you as the developer of an issue.

That's why Music.app needed to split up one playlist into multiple ones for the different apps when you migrated to macOS 10.15.

the problem may be solved by beaTunes 5.2.16 (just released). Would you please give it a shot and let me know whether it improves the situation.
