When I open the app, I got this error:

    Ah... yes. That's an issue in 5.2.0.

    In beaTunes, can you please open Help -> Contact Support, which will open a new discussion here. The messages is pre-populated with a text saying you should please attach a file from your desktop. Please do so.

    Thanks for sending the logs (via http://help.beatunes.com/discussions/problems/53834-error-when-open...). The regular log upload mechanism will work again in 5.2.1 (when it's out).

    It looks like beaTunes was started with the argument -psn_0_1413465. It's most likely harmless (beaTunes tries to play the file, but fails quickly, because it does not exist) and can be ignored. But it leaves me puzzled as to how you managed to do that. Did you right-click on some file to play it with beaTunes?

    Does the problem always occur? Or was it a one-time thing?

    Apparently, it's a peculiarity that happens when you open a downloaded app for the first time. It's just weird that I have never seen this before!

    You need beaTunes 5.2 for Catalina (free update, if you own a 5.x license).

    Thanks for the logs.

    Is it possible that the Music.app was waiting for you to react to modal dialogs, when you started beaTunes?

    Also, it seems that there was some unclean shutdown.

    This may seem silly, but if you restart your computer, start Music.app, rect to all dialogs it may show and then start beaTunes—does it work then?

    Hey Hein,

    on macOS 10.15, beaTunes loads Music.app contents using the Apple framework ITLibrary. For a library of your size (135,860 tracks), that seems to take a while (6.5min). Unfortunately, in v5.2.0 of beaTunes the UI is blocked during this loading procedure, which means that it looks like nothing is happening.

    I have modified the code responsible for this to load the ITLibrary contents in the background, so that beaTunes should become usable much quicker.

    Could you please try out the dev snapshot from https://www.beatunes.com/download/beaTunes-5-2-1-SNAPSHOT.dmg

    Regarding the memory config: You have effectively reduced the heap memory for beaTunes from 8GB to 2GB. For the moment I don't think that's a problem. Perhaps granting 4GB is the smart thing to do.

    Please let me know how, whether the startup behavior is improved with the snapshot. If not, please do send fresh logs.
