    Hi,

    this sometimes happens when

    1. iTunes was installed from the Microsoft app store
    2. iTunes simply wasn't installed properly

    Oftentimes the remedy is re-installing iTunes from http://www.apple.com/itunes/ and then restarting your computer.

    The underlying reason for the failure is that the iTunes COM automation server isn't installed properly.
