I just migrated my library over to my internal laptop drive. How I did this is by dragging the music folder onto iTunes while having the consolidate library selected. iTunes seems to be okay but unfortunately the tracks are not displayed in the library screen . The number of files seems to be displayed properly but the pane is empty. The files are visible when you select one of the playlists.

Also, Beatunes seems to want to analyze the tracks again.

This is always the case for folder-based libraries. For iTunes-based libraries (and if I remember correctly, that's what you are using) you can enable this behavior before analysis by checking the box "embed non-iTunes fields".

If you have done this, you may simply re-create your beaTunes library from your files. More info here.

I was thinking about simply dumping the files onto the iTunes pane with consolidate selected, but I just wanted to be sure this function doesn’t overwrite what I’ve done so far.

Frankly, I don't fully understand what you mean with that?

hendriktag:help.beatunes.com,2009-07-24:Comment/474376722019-07-15T16:14:06Z2019-07-15T16:14:07ZHarddrive Replacement

Should I try reinstalling Beatunes and will doing so lose any data?

James Dillardtag:help.beatunes.com,2009-07-24:Comment/474376722019-07-15T16:50:08Z2019-07-15T16:50:08ZHarddrive Replacement

Should I try reinstalling Beatunes and will doing so lose any data?

On macOS, deleting the beaTunes5.app will not remove any data, which also means that reinstalling has no effect.

Why would you reinstall it? What are you trying to achieve?

hendriktag:help.beatunes.com,2009-07-24:Comment/474376722019-07-15T17:18:42Z2019-07-15T17:18:43ZHarddrive Replacement

I have a Windows 10 Laptop.
I just had to restore my laptop manually and install everything. I used
an old iTunes folder, including the media folder to load the music I
have on a backup external drive. At one time it was the main library and
I had to connect it to my laptop. I, since then, installed a larger
sized ssd but had issues and that's why I had to start over. So, my
problem is this, I installed Beatunes and it immediately gave me a
message to tick the allow other applications to use iTunes library. The
problem is, it's already ticked even though I'm still getting this
message. Do you have a fix for this? Maybe it's looking for the XML file
in the wrong location (which might be the external drive)? Should I try
moving the xml file to the new location? c:/users/myusername/music/iTunes?

Thanks

Is it
iTunes Library.xml file not found. Please turn XML library sharing in the iTunes advanced preferences on.
?

If so, beaTunes shows that dialog when the path to the XML file returned by iTunes either cannot be read or beaTunes fails at talking to iTunes in the first place. Do you see any other error messages, indicating COM communication failures?

Could you please upload your logs files (from within the app,
Help
->
Upload Logs
). They may shed some light on this.

Thanks.

hendriktag:help.beatunes.com,2009-07-24:Comment/474376722019-08-22T07:34:27Z2019-08-22T07:34:28ZHarddrive Replacement

I just uploaded via djtorch07@gmail.com

James Dillardtag:help.beatunes.com,2009-07-24:Comment/474376722019-08-22T07:58:20Z2019-08-22T07:58:20ZHarddrive Replacement

Thanks.

Because of the failure, the logs unfortunately only contain garbage.

Is it possible for you to pause analysis, restart beaTunes and upload another set of logs. Perhaps that produces cleaner information.

Thanks,

I was able to get Beatunes to connect to my new iTunes library. I am now
trying to remove 16 thousand duplicates and wanted to know if there was
a more effective way instead of making a selection for each set of
duplicates?

Thanks
