beaTunes can do duplicate detection based on acoustic features. But you first have to run the fingerprint analysis on all your songs.

To do so, please of to
Tools
->
Analyze All
and in the Analysis Options dialog, please select the top task (Fingerprint). To speed this up, turn all other tasks off.

After analysis, run the duplicate inspection again. For all duplicates, beaTunes will state why it thinks some songs are duplicates. You should then see some duplicates that are based on acoustic similarity.
Hope this helps,

When I play the songs the labels and songs are correct but they are different songs that it tells me are duplicates. Is there a way to make the filtering more reliable? A lot of the suggestions are just wrong and I have to go through every file to make sure it is correct. What else can I do to make it work better?

Christag:help.beatunes.com,2009-07-24:Comment/431623322017-08-09T23:44:40Z2017-08-09T23:44:43ZDoes not really sort out duplicates

Here is a screen shot of what I am talking about the songs are different and listed as different but are filtered as duplicates.

Christag:help.beatunes.com,2009-07-24:Comment/431623322017-08-09T23:51:01Z2017-08-09T23:51:05ZDoes not really sort out duplicates

I am now running analyze songs but with force lookup via fingerprint, hopefully this will give me better results.

Christag:help.beatunes.com,2009-07-24:Comment/431623322017-08-10T07:49:21Z2017-08-10T07:49:21ZDoes not really sort out duplicates

I am now running analyze songs but with force lookup via fingerprint, hopefully this will give me better results.

This will not make a difference.

beaTunes uses multiple ways to find duplicates:

Similar names

Same ids

Same acoustic content

The screenshot you sent shows a list of 3. and a selected case of 2.
3. (same acoustic content) is much more reliable than just an embedded ID like ISRC. As a matter of fact, ISRC's are often wrong.

Recommendation: Only pay attention to the acoustically identical tracks for now and ignore the others.

Cheers,

Is there a way to know which is the correct track when the tracks are showing different songs but acoustically identical or is listening to the tracks the only way to be sure?

Christag:help.beatunes.com,2009-07-24:Comment/431623322017-08-10T11:44:38Z2017-08-10T11:44:40ZDoes not really sort out duplicates

Can this program correct the track names artist and general metadata from the analyze function or is there another function to fix the wrong data reliably? I have a lot of songs that are showing the wrong artist song or many other things and need to have this fixed this is the main reason I brought this program.

Christag:help.beatunes.com,2009-07-24:Comment/431623322017-08-10T11:56:39Z2017-08-10T11:56:39ZDoes not really sort out duplicates

You could try running the analysis with the import metadata task enabled and have it overwrite your metadata. If your songs are badly mislabeled, to get "correct" results, you would need to check the force lookup ... box.

However... The data would be retrieved from the beaTunes database—a central database filled with user submissions. That means that it's very large, but some values may be incorrect. Another issue here is, that often tracks are released on multiple albums. They are acoustically identical, but there is no way of knowing which album you want.

Another issue here is that running an analysis is a mass operation with no undo. That makes it inherently risky on a large collection (a backup is a good idea!). So in essence, your mileage may vary.

hendriktag:help.beatunes.com,2009-07-24:Comment/431623322017-08-10T13:34:36Z2017-08-10T13:34:38ZDoes not really sort out duplicates

Ok thanks I will try it since I already have a backup of the files this may help if the information is more accurate than what I have no harm in trying.

Christag:help.beatunes.com,2009-07-24:Comment/431623322017-08-10T19:48:35Z2017-08-10T19:48:35ZDoes not really sort out duplicates

Good luck!

hendrik
