Failed to Import Lyrics

I am trying out beaTunes for Mac and I've been getting numerous errors importing lyrics.
They are all variations of "Failed to import lyrics for 'Check In'. java.lang.NullPointerException." differing only with the song title.
Is there a setting I've missed somewhere?

Yes, I have not yet registered the software. I wanted to see how it performed first before doing so.

Thank you, in advance, for your assistance.

Oh, as an aside, you may want to seek lyrics sources other than It is reported as a malware source - mdm

    Hey Marlin,

    thanks for your email.

There should never be a java.lang.NullPointerException in this context. Can you please upload your logs? explain how. I'd love to see what happened.

Thanks for the note. beaTunes never launches a lyrics site into an actual browser. So no code stemming from that site is ever executed.

    Hello Hendrik,

Thank you very much for your very speedy response!
I've attached a zip file of the entire beaTunes log directory.

Heh - there's nothing quite like an exception where your first reaction is,
"How the heck is that happening there?"樂

Good bug hunting to you. I'd also love to know what the problem is.

    Hey Marlin,

thanks for the logs. I was able to track down the issue and as it turns out, the NullPointerException happened only in cases, when beaTunes wasn't able to find the correct lyrics anyway. So overall no great loss. That aside, it's of course a bug and it will be fixed in 4.6.4.

If you'd like to have the fix right away, please download and install the latest dev snapshot from

The original poster got a NullPointerException. Do you also get a NullPointerException?

no. I do not see anything about a NullPoint Exception. It just does not seem to find the Songs.

It says, "no Tags found for 'your song here'" and "no lyrics found for 'your song here'" for all of the songs it scans.

Then it's not a failure and has little to do with the original post.

beaTunes simply isn't able to find lyrics for the songs in question. That happens, as the lyrics search is basically just a glorified web search. Note that this can be caused by wrong metadata in your songs, i.e. wrong title or artist.
