It looks like you tried analysis on files on the

Z:\
drive without the
Z:\
drive being
mounted/mapped. Therefore everything fails, as the files cannot be
found.

hendriktag:help.beatunes.com,2009-07-24:Comment/345151112014-09-10T14:05:30Z2014-09-10T14:05:30ZFinding files on NAS

I noticed that. The drive is mapped and accessible. I went to it
in Windows
Explorer and Total Commander.

Al Wilsontag:help.beatunes.com,2009-07-24:Comment/345151112014-09-10T18:43:49Z2014-09-10T18:43:49ZFinding files on NAS

After you ran beaTunes or before?

hendriktag:help.beatunes.com,2009-07-24:Comment/345151112014-09-10T19:18:49Z2014-09-10T19:18:49ZFinding files on NAS

Both, I'm afraid. I forgot to do itthe first time. I think it
doesn't
matter though.

I've installed 4.0.7. Before launching it, I opened a Command
window as
administrator. Changing to the z drive didn't work. I mapped the
drive in
the Command window and that worked. We'll see if that worked.

Should I just delete the old logs and start again?

Oh, I think that this is the first time that BeaTunes picked up
the library
right away. After the last couple of updates, I had to resync the
library.

I'm not an expert in mapping drives on Windows, but my guess is
that it is a better idea to map stuff in Explorer than some command
window. Just to make sure that the mapping is global, not
local.

Should I just delete the old logs and start again?

No need to delete logs. They are automatically overwritten
("rolling logs").

When beaTunes says that it is Syncing, it can mean one
of two things:

It's importing data for all songs (takes forever in your
case)

It's actually adjusting its internal database to reflect what's
on your hard drive (should still take some time for you, but by far
not as much)

In the second case that also means, that if it does not find
certain files anymore, e.g. because the drive does not exists, data
about those files is deleted from the database.
Do you think you had a sync 1) or 2), judging from how long it
took?

Cheers,

From what little I have read, I understand that some programs
use a
higher-level authority to do some things and accessing mapped
drives is not
automatically shared between the higher level and the user account.
Mapping
in Explorer, as best I can tell, maps the drive for the local user
account.
I was just guessing that this is the cause.

I'm not sure what type of syncing occurred. It did take about as
long as a
type 1 sync.

One day, I may be able to generate a playlist!
