Ok - just to make sure we are on the same page. You:
beaTunes3
icon from the disk image to yourApplications
folderApplications
folderAll Messages
item in theConsole
app (example screenshot attached) doesn't show anything Java or beaTunes related? Can you perhaps start beaTunes and then openConsole
and take a screenshot of theAll Messages
item?Thanks,
-hendrik

Regarding MacKeeper - I have not encountered it so far, but it does not seem to have the best reputation: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3691

Hey Kevin,
it looks like you uninstalled Java from your system.
beaTunes depends on Java (see system requirements on http://www.beatunes.com/beatunes-download.html). Usually, OS X downloads Java if a program requests this - this does not seem to be working on your machine. Hence the error message you see in the System logs (
JLRequestRuntimeInstall CFMessagePortSendRequest: error -1
).You should be able to manually download and install Java from http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1572 (the current version). This version has all the latest security fixes. However, you might nevertheless want to make sure that in your browser (I guess Chrome), the Java plugin is disabled. For Chrome you can disable Java as described here. Basically you simply go to chrome://plugins/ find the Java plugin and disable it. Similar things can be done for all other browsers and is highly recommended.
Alternatively, to this, you could also try to use the experimental version of beaTunes described here. It does not require you to install the Apple Java 6 as described above, because it comes with its own bundled Java 7 by Oracle. Installing this version, does not lead to the automatic installation of browser plugins and therefore reduces the risk of "catching" anything while surfing. However, as pointed out in the blog post, Java 7 for OS X is not quite ready for prime time. It has some severe shortcomings. Also, I will not post updates to this special version of beaTunes 3 any time soon.
I hope this finally solves the issue!
