BPM not showing up in iTunes after analysis
Hi, I'm running Windows 7, iTunes 10.6.1.7, and just updated to beaTunes 3.5.10. I analyze songs in beatunes, but the BPM never shows up in iTunes. I checked and I am using the XML library not the filesystem one, and it's pointed to the active XML (but my media library folder is on another drive...) Thanks!

Hi Paul,
are your files perhaps read-only?
If not, please send me your logs - http://help.beatunes.com/kb/troubleshooting/where-are-the-beatunes-...
Thanks,

Hi Hendrik,
The file "iTunes Music Library.xml" is not read only - are there other
files I should check?
I've attached the log files. Please advise.
Thanks,
Paul

Hi Paul,
sorry, I was being unclear. I meant your music files, not the
iTunes Music Library.xml
file.-hendrik

I just spot checked several of the MP3 files and they are not showing
as read only. Thanks!

Good - making the writable should solve the issue.

I think you misread that. They are NOT read only. Please advise.

Indeed - I mis-read.
Just took a look at your logs and it seems that iTunes is complaining that some of your files are read-only. E.g.
This was for track
E:\Music\iTunes Library\Music\Dub Colossus\Addis Through the Looking Glass\05 Tringo Dub.mp3
- which btw, beaTunes also believes to be writable. How about a quick test: What happens when you edit the lyrics of that song in iTunes, then restart iTunes and check whether they are still there?

Thanks - I will check that file out and try editing the lyrics when I
get home from work today.

The song was not editable in iTunes - the fields were greyed-out.
The track in question isn't read-only, but many of the folders above it
are, and that was preventing me from editing info on the song in iTunes.
I haven't been able to get the folders to uncheck read-only (more about
this issue here:
http://itexpertvoice.com/home/fixing-the-windows-7-read-only-folder-blues/)
But, I did manage to make the song editable in iTunes, and did edit the
lyrics, but when I ran beaTunes to update the BPM, it still didn't take.
I've attached the logs from that run.

Paul,
that explains it..
How did you make that track editable?

Although this seems to be progress, the problem still isn't solved -
the BPM is still not getting updated in iTunes.
I'm not sure how the info became editable - I unchecked read-only on
the folders many times, but it never stuck (see the link I included
about that). I also changed security/permissions on the folders to give
full control to all users, and stepped back the UAC - so one of these
must have made the info editable in iTunes.
Do you see any more clues in the new logs I included as to why the BPM
isn't updating?
Thanks!

Hi Paul,
when you analyzed that song again - did you check the "Replace" box? Remember - as long as beaTunes shows a BPM for the song, it think, it already computed it and won't do it again. I.e. it won't update iTunes either.
The safest way to test this, would be to open the Get Info dialog for the song in beaTunes and change the BPM manually to some other value. Just to see whether it gets updated in iTunes.

I am having the same problem (see other thread) -- with identical setup as Paul with the xml file on the main drive, and the iTunes library on another drive. Nothing is auto-updating.

Gary: I answered in your original thread.
Paul: Did you ever try the manual update through beaTunes' Get Info dialog?
