for beaTunes to show your playlists, you need an
iTunes
based
library, not a
directory based
one.
Please see
http://help.beatunes.com/kb/troubleshooting/how-to-tell-an-itunes-b...
for details.

Did this solve the problem?

beatunes as my iTunes library. But nothing happens

Juan Scott

juanscotttag:help.beatunes.com,2009-07-24:Comment/205697592012-11-07T19:25:27Z2012-11-07T19:25:27ZBeatunes won't show up iTunes Playlist, not syncing properly ?

Hi Juan,

in the general preferences, what does beaTunes not say is the
name of your library.
Your screenshot said:
FileSystem:....

Is that still the case? If so, you are still on a directory
based library and beaTunes can't show any playlists.

In any case, could you please send me your logs. Perhaps they
show an issue. <a href=

http://help.beatunes.com/kb/troubleshooting/where-are-the-beatunes-...
tells you where to find them and how to send them.

Thanks,

Why beatunes doesn't show the name of my iTunes Library? I would
like to use my iTunes xml file so I can see and sync my playlist to
beatunes It's still the same I can only see the FileSystem option
and when I'd tried to select the option in blank, it will ask me
for my xml file, I have chosen but nothing happens. It seems that
it is still showing up an old iTunes library, I can tell from the
number of song beatunes show at the bottom of the screen.

juanscotttag:help.beatunes.com,2009-07-24:Comment/205697592012-11-08T08:11:20Z2012-11-08T08:11:20ZBeatunes won't show up iTunes Playlist, not syncing properly ?

Hi Juan,

have you tried clicking on the
+
button below the
library name?
It allows you to create a new iTunes based library by selecting the
correct XML file.

not recognizing the XML file located in my iTunes folder

I took a look at the logs, but unfortunately it's not the one
from
~/Library/Logs/beaTunes
, but from somewhere else.
Please note that the
~
stands for your home directory,
and that your operating system is hiding the folder

~/Library
from you, even though it exists. The easiest
way to find the
~/Library
folder is via the Finder

Go
menu, as pointed out in
http://help.beatunes.com/kb/troubleshooting/where-are-the-beatunes-...

Hope this helps,

What else can I do. I am getting sick of it. How do I know
what folder beaTunes is referring to? I have tried to uninstall and
reinstall it, but same problem... Why beaTunes Is not working?

Juan

juanscotttag:help.beatunes.com,2009-07-24:Comment/205697592012-11-09T10:21:15Z2012-11-09T10:21:15ZBeatunes won't show up iTunes Playlist, not syncing properly ?

Hi Juan,

it sounds like configuration problem. But to be sure I would
need to see the log files. I assume you couldn't find them?

Re-installation of beaTunes will have no effect, as it does not
change the configuration.
However, you could simply delete the configuration. To do so,
please follow the following steps:

Make sure beaTunes is not running

Start
Terminal
(it's in

Applications/Utilities
)

Type in

rm -f Library/Application\ Support/beaTunes/preferences*

Hit the
Enter
key

Start beaTunes

You will be asked to create a library, choose Use iTunes
Library

This will start beaTunes with a clean configuration.

If this for some reason does not solve the problem, please:

Start
Terminal
(if it's not running already)

Type in

zip -rj Desktop/beaTunesLogs.zip Library/Logs/beaTunes/

Hit the
Enter
key

There should now be a new file called

beaTunesLogs.zip
on your desktop. Please attach the
file to this discussion.

Hope this helps,

-hendrik

hendriktag:help.beatunes.com,2009-07-24:Comment/205697592012-11-09T21:45:45Z2012-11-09T21:45:45ZBeatunes won't show up iTunes Playlist, not syncing properly ?

Brilliant !
It finally worked, however I still see my "old" playlists, hence I
belive it's not completely synchronized with iTunes, maybe has
something to do with my itunes library xml file? how can I "update"
it, if that's what beaTunes requires... I can see my playlists, but
many of them I have allready deleted them, and still can not see
the latest playlists I have created.

Thanks for your help

something with your internal beaTunes database is not OK -
perhaps that's what caused the issue all along. We can try to solve
this issue by doing the following:

Stop beaTunes

Open that Terminal application again

Type in

echo "recover" > Library/Application\ Support/beaTunes/Database/recover

Start beaTunes

Now beaTunes should try to attempt to rebuild its internal
database.

Hope this helps,

I seems like the setting are all right, just don't get my updated
playlists from iTunes

juanscotttag:help.beatunes.com,2009-07-24:Comment/205697592012-11-10T18:22:24Z2012-11-10T18:22:24ZBeatunes won't show up iTunes Playlist, not syncing properly ?

Hi,

the database recovery did not succeed, which means that the
internal beaTunes database is unfortunately beyond repair.

beaTunes automatically rebuilds it database, after you delete
it.
To delete it,

Close beaTunes

Open Terminal

Type in

rm -rf Library/Application\ Support/beaTunes/Database

Type
Enter

Start beaTunes

Unfortunately, by deleting the database you may lose some data
that is only stored in the database, like color or key.

I sure hope this finally solved the issue.

the problem but I have had to redo the entire database of 20k+ of
songs, not happy. seems to have had an issue with the past few
upgrades some where between 3.5.5~3.5.8. not sure which upgrade did
it but one of those in that range. I noticed it was not adding or
seeing new tracks added. just put in 1000 tracks and they did not
pop up as showing as need, that is how i found the issue.

Close beaTunes

Open Terminal

Type in: rm -rf Library/Application\
Support/beaTunes/Database

Type Enter

Start beaTunes

this solution has resolved the issue so far. rebuilding now
:(

DJQuijytag:help.beatunes.com,2009-07-24:Comment/205697592012-11-12T08:41:43Z2012-11-12T08:41:43ZBeatunes won't show up iTunes Playlist, not syncing properly ?

You are welcome, Juan. Glad it works now.

DJQuijy:
To avoid re-doing the database, turn on the option

embed non-iTunes fields
in the general preferences
before analyzing. This embeds key etc. into the files
instead of just storing the data in the internal database.

hendrik
