Analysis brings 98,000.00 duplicates most of them false and are the same file with the same path and only have the difference of the date of inclusion, at some point BeaTunes made iTunes crash and reload the library again, maybe is the problem but i don't know how to fixit

    Hi Gerardo,

if the 98k duplicates correspond to two entries in the iTunes library, they are shown, because these are in fact duplicate entries. So I wouldn't call this a problem.

beaTunes should recognize the fact that it's the same file and when you click "Keep earliest" or something similar, it should make sure that one of the files is kept.

I'd like to recommend to try this approach with 1 or 2 test dupes. Unless the files are on a network drive, the deleted files will be moved to the trash/recycling bin.

About the other item: What makes you believe that beaTunes crashed iTunes?

    Hendrick,
My operative system is OSX 10.7 Lion, iTunes 10.4 64 bits in a mac pro 12 cores, 48 Gb ram, beaTunes 3.02, and 3.03, running with iTunes synchronized.
First I installed beaTunes 3.02 and run an analysis and everything went ok, showing 9k to 11k duplicates, iTunes shows me 32k duplicates, my library is 169k songs, working with beaTunes 3.02 iTunes library cleared and i don't remember if i reloaded manually o reloaded alone,. After that shows 98k duplicates.
Trying to fix the problem I've already1)- Deleted beaTunes and reinstalled with no change, and deleted the .XML iTunes files with no results
The duplicates shows the same path with difference in inclusion date but when i try to play the song with beaTunes just 1 play the newest one, beaTunes has the option to keep the oldest no the newest one

    Hi,

I'm sorry, but I don't really understand what the problem is.
You seem to have added the same file twice to iTunes and beaTunes tells you about it.

    Hendrik,
There is no double or twice file in iTunes, just in beaTunes, iTunes shows 31486 duplicates, beaTunes shows 94733 duplicates, here i send you the same file screen shot: Samba pa Ti, Lotus 2,
In beaTunes shows duplicate but not in iTunes, and the oldest date added in beaTunes can't be played in beaTunes just the newest added

    Hi,

    I see your point.
Well, beaTunes does not make up entries to the iTunes library, it reads them from iTunes Music Library.xml. Can you please send me that file (zipped)?

    Thanks,

    Gerardo,

    thank you for the file.

It seems that something has gone pretty wrong with the beaTunes-iTunes synchronization.

    Please try the following:

    • Start up beaTunes
    • Go to the File menu and select Synchronize
    • Wait for synchronization to complete
    • Run inspection

Do you still see the "Samba pa Ti" duplicate?
If you do, we need to re-create the beaTunes database. To do so, please shut down beaTunes and delete the folder ~/Library/Application Support/beaTunes/Database.
The easiest way to get to that folder is to open Finder and use the keyboard shortcut Shift-Command-G and simply enter the path mentioned above.
The restart beaTunes. It will re-built the entire library - hopefully without the false duplicates.

    Hope this helps,

    -hendrik
