I did find that deleting the beaTunes folder in
~/Library/Application Support did allow for a clean re-install.
(The ~/Library folder is hidden in OS X Lion, so I didn't find it
when I used Spotlight search to find all of the beaTunes files

It looks like you may have updated to beaTunes 3 while the queue
wasn't empty. That can lead to the observed problems. Deleting the
beaTunes folder in ~/Library/Application Support will
also delete the Database folder, which allows a clean
start without any data. It also resets a couple of preferences.
And yeah.. Lion hides the ~/Library folder. A
little annoying IMHO.
