Drag and Drop Implementation Issues

When I drag and drop a song from the source file window into a playlist, it changes songs displayed. It makes putting together a set somewhat cumbersome. Is there a way to prevent the contents of the song windows from flipping through the contents of the playlists as you drag accross them. Not an easy one to explain. Unless I specifically click on a playlist, I'd rather not see the contents. It would be great if the song window contents remained static while I drag and drop.

Very interested if you have a work around, but even when I drag and drop a track into Ableton, when dragging across playlists, I lose sight of what's important.

Aside from that and the occassional (ITunes cannot save the song database < paraphrased) error, great software.

    Hi Phillippe,

thanks for your message. The behavior you are seeing is indeed annoying.
It will be fixed in beaTunes 3.

    Thanks Hendrik, verilly appreciated.

Next time I get the other (completely unrelated) iTunes database error I'll post it.

Frankly, compared to Rapid Evolution and Mixed in Key, aside the the playlist issue, you've done a great job. Are you a DJ as well?

    Thanks for the praise!

No, I don't DJ - and seeing what other people can do with (what used to be) the turntables, it's better that way :-)

I'm a way better coder than DJ...

And by the way - the drag and drop fix will be part of beaTunes 3 EA6, due tomorrow.

    Hey Hendrik,

Here some issues I ran into with EA6. Perhaps already fixed with official release. If you'd like more info let me know.

right clicking on sort columns shows a list and allows to turn them all on, not off. Also list is too long for 1600x900 resolution, cannot see much below the letter S. All these columns cannot be de-selected (or seen).

ITunes Database error (will get the actually error to you later, keep forgetting.)

Cannot set Rating from column view.

Dropping a file into a playlist still blanks out the matching songs view. The upper Song selection view is fixed.

After having clicked on the sort column "bpm" to sort by bpm, the spinging ring (hourglass) icon apears and won't go away.

    Nice work!

    Hey Hendrik,

Finally have that iTunes database error:

"The iTunes Library file cannot be saved. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation."

[check box] Do not warn me again

    Hi Philippe,

    regarding your earlier post:

    • sort columns: at least for the main table you can use the menu item View -> View Options
    • setting rating from column view is not supported.
    • matchlist blank: this will be fixed in the next minor update - thanks for reporting this!
    • the spinning ring - is it blue or rainbow colored?

Regarding the library save problem. I don't see how that is still related to beaTunes. There seem to be a number of issues with this connected to iTunes. At least that's what a quick google search resulted in.
