Hi there,

I'm trying to fix the metadata for a bunch of files and I am getting a server down error. Any chance its on the server side? I've tried everything and my connectivity seems to be fine...

    Hi Rob,

which version of beaTunes are you using, what is the exact "Server Down" message during which operation and are you using any plugins?

If you are using plugins, please make sure you use their latest incarnation (if you are using the latest beaTunes version).

I get an error also when I try to analyse a song:

"A server error has occured. Please try again later."

I"m using the trial version, so I've only got so many days to decide if I want to buy the product or not.

    Hi,

you can always work around that issue by unchecking all "use online resources" boxes in the analysis options - values are still computed.
That said, there have been a couple of problems with the server recently - right now it should be up and running again.

Thanks. The server is now working. I had to have the server working in order
to test some tracks. Namely the genre is too generalized on the program I
used to metatag my songs. So in order to test the server, I had to see if it
would change the genre of the songs, and it did correct the song to the more
    relevant tag.
BTW, the example track I used to test the server was a Village People song.
Its genre was tagged as Soul/R&B. Beatunes corrected it to Disco.

I think I'll get the full version of Beatunes, so I can fix my entire
library and make sure I have all the available options for my songs when
    fixing them.
Again, thanks for emailing me and letting me know the server was up and
    running.

Oh, btw, how do you make playlists? I heard you could drop a couple tracks
into it or something, and it would spit out a playlist that had similar
songs. Presumable when I have more metadata, like BPM, color, and key, I'd
get better results. But for testing purposes, how do I do that?

    Hi James,

just FYI: the server server that was down had nothing to do with the lookup of genres. There are multiple ones in play here..

To create a playlist, select some songs, and hit the "New/Create Matchlist" button in the toolbar. It will use a ruleset (you can define) and some filters to create playlists.

Ok, I’m going to go ahead and get the full version. As long as it does what I want, it doesn't matter to me how it adds/fixes/changes the meta tags.

    That's a kind of pragmatism I can appreciate! :-)
